Hawton

Sometime in the 1930s the bells of this magnificent church fell silent due to their poor condition. On 2nd November a major project will near its end with the dedication of the rehung bells. They have been tuned, augmented to eight, (with a mix of second hand and new bells) and hung in a new steel frame. They are now rung from a new floor.

The dedication service will be at 11am and The Bishop of Sherwood will be the speaker. There will be refreshments and open ringing in the afternoon.

Welcome!

Whether you are a long standing member; new to ringing; or a visitor wondering if ringing might be for you, I hope you will find the site useful and informative. I would like to thank those who have built, populated and checked the new site – particularly Chris Field – and Richard Allton and Mary Stephens who for twenty years, developed and maintained our previous site which has served us so well.

The new site is designed to be easily updated so please put up news and events from around the Guild then everyone can see that ringing is alive in the Diocese and that there is something for everyone – keep a regular check on the calendar to see what’s on where. I look forward to keeping in touch with you all and with what you are doing.

Jim Crabtree, Chairman
